A friends ps3 suddenly failed and has what I guess is a common yellow light of doom. I looked around a bit and it seems its just a harddrive failure, is that correct? Anyone had the problem before and fix it? My friends is the original launch model, so no warranty on it.

After reading more it seems the yellow light failure can be a big number of things not just the hd....
