PS3 IS Cheaper Here!

Stopped by a GameStop today while I was in teh mall (NewPark Ghettoness FTW ) and asked about pricing:

Base model: 400USD
Premium model: 500USD

Hmmmm, I think I'll go get one now that it will only be 400.....
The price jumping really needs to stop. Each new console release since like the n64 has skyrocketed another 100-150 above the last one. Even with the price reduction, its getting way out of hand. It now finally is the same price as the best 360, and that only comes with the base model. Well, so much for getting that.

When it drops to 300 I'd def consider it, don't expect to see it at 200 for at least 3+ years.
Even 300 is hard to, but there is no way I can justify paying 400-500 for a console that I won't have much time to even use. Its been so long since I played Video Games. And I have a "Must Have New Technology" Disorder, I bought the PSP when it first came out, I think I've clocked about 5 hrs gameplay on it in over a year. (DEAD serious).. *sigh* if only I had more time...

There was a system back in the late 80's early 90's that sold for like $1200 IIRC. I wouldnt count on the PS3 being that cheap unless the store is offering its own discount. Most likely the clerk gave you the wrong info.

US is still 500 for base and 600 for premium.

Japan has gotten a price cut ($70 I think) and Europe is still haigher than everyone I believe.

That was what the 2 people working at the GameStop told me personally. If you wanna call (Yellow you're close enough that it isn't long dist or anything-GameStop @ NewPark Mall, Newark CA) LMK what they tell you. They told me it dropped to 400 Base, 500 Premium. So that's what they'll be selling it for, unless both of them were misaken. They both confirmed it had dropped tho.

Also, consoles are increasing faster than the inflation rates. THey are not in correlation, its much higher in adjusted amounts I believe. I'll check into the actual differences, tho.

Problem is instead of a goofd gaming platofrm they got all that online BS and Blue ray and all kinds of crap ya really don't need or use, if the premium were only 300 or 350 I wouldn't bitch but dude 400 for the shitty one and 500 for the good one is still extravegant, My supra's more fun, 500 could buy a lot more fun for that than PS3, LOL.

Id have the manager give you that price in writing just in case it is a fuck up. So you could bring it back later.

Like Sears printing coupons for Xbox360 HD's for only 14.99. It was a good day.

Yeah it doesn't make a difference to me cuz I won't be buying one @ 400 either, but thought I'd pass along what I found out. That's all!

It's not a steal if HD-DVD becomes the dominant format. Then it's just another sony flop like beta-max, mini disc, and the billion memory card formats they have tried to push throughout the years.

Thats why you sell it for twice what its worth early on then when/if it does flop you go pick it up again for dirt cheap.

Yes and No, for gaming Blue-Ray is still a great format. But yeah, although Sony has failed with some products they've pushed many other successful products ( cough dvd cough ) along with plenty of new TV features.
