Good sirs of SM, I recently replaced the entire power steering system except the return lines, cooler and reservoir in my 87 with a 7mgte. Steering rack, pump and pressure line(Driftmotion). Been driving it for a few months (3-4) now and last time I drove home from work (10 miles) the power steering went out, it started up normally and worked through about three stop lights and the next corner no assisted steering.
Got home popped the hood to see if maybe I shredded the belt or lost tension on the pump but nothing like that so I checked the reservoir and that was still full of fluid. Check the fluid again this morning while it was cold and is still good to go. The pump wasn't making any noise noting a low fluid or flow condition at the time of failure and hasn't since I replaced it the 3-4 months ago. Everything has been working very well and no leaks until this.
Any suggestions that I should check before pulling the pump again?
