ok. I have gone this route now as I did try and fit my mechanical gauge in the stock cluster but it was too deep, so I've put a good oil pressure gauge there instead.

I'm about to fit a Pillar Double pod and I am wondering the best way to route the vacuum cable for my mechanical boost gauge?

Can anyone who has done this with a mech gauge as opposed to electronic please give me a heads up on vacuum pipe routing?

Did you take it into the back of the dashboard > behind the gauges and clocks to glovebox > through rubber grommit in firewall (long way)

or is there a better way through the firewall on the drivers side?

Also, does the stock pillar trim just pull off or what? Mine had a screw at the top but seems almost stuck to the pillar even with that removed and I dont want to break it :nono:

Thanks

the trim is held on with with the grab handle screws and then just pulls off, if your cars a auto, use one ofthe blanking gromits for the clutch master cylinder, the just route the pipe under the dash and upto the pillar trim, easy, you can get the feed from the cruise control supply,(worked ok for me)
you might have some alarm sensors screwed to the trim but they shouldn't go all the way thru to the metal.

post a picture of the screw if you are woried about breaking it the trim is metal backed,

Thanks Martin

The cars a manual so the clutch master cylinder grommit is a no go unfortunately :(
I will remove the trim in the morning (cheers for the heads up on that) and see what alternative routes I can find for the vac lines?

theres a wiring gromet that goes in the top left from the clutch master. You can barely see it from under there. Jack the car up, take the left front wheel off, unscrew all the screws holding the wheel well liner in, pull out the liner and youl clearly see a gromet going into the cab and then theres holes in the side of the engine bay to route through. Theres even a tab on the gromet that you can rip off that reveals another hole. Just push the hose from the engine bay through the gromet and then go in the cab and grab the loose end and route from there...
