Is there a way to determine the year a part was built? The reason why i ask this is because i finally dropped the auto tranny to swap in the manual and it looks new. I then asked my father in law who i got the car from and he told me that when he bought it he was told that the tranny was new. I was just curious if there is a way to tell what year it is from so i know if it actually is new or was just a rebuild with some nice paint so i can properly list it. Thanks for any info.

most likely rebuilt used cause i was at toyota other day and asked them how much a r154 would be they told me 1900 new so i doubt some1 bought it new...when you can just rebuild it for around 600
New factory Toyota transmissions dont come painted. At least not in my time working at the dealer.
