...like i am? :D

I'm already a member of OCForums and XtremeSystems, but i had to share this with y'all:

Not bad for a CPU that cost me £70 and is only supposed to run at 1.8Ghz :D

100% stable - Orthos is still going as well....load temps are still only 63*c as well....i'm glad i lapped this bastard last week!

For the rest of you that overclock - post your max overclock and rig specs!

Specs:

Core2Duo E4300 (SL9TB) @ 3.35Ghz (373 x 9, 1.488v), Zalman CNPS9700

Nice. I think I've seen you over on OCforums from time to time but I don't remember what SN you go under. I'd overclock just to see what I can do, but I've no idea how to really do it.

Sorry Kai, you've got a ways to go yet. ;)

e2160 @ 3.6ghz (my rig) aka 100% Overclock

*edit* LOL just noticed my temps - had the fan set to 'low' - bumping it up to 'high' yields 58C max temps ;)

ATL
4gb pc2 ddr2 (think its around 5600)
7900gs
athlon 4400+ with a mild overclock (from 2.2 to 2.4 each core)

60fps constant (smoke, flash, heavy firefight) in all source games
70-80fps in WoW
all of these with max res and everything on high running in xp

Orthos is like multithreaded Prime95, so both cores get tasked with full 100% load.

Doward - i think it might be the limit of my motherboard more than the chip itself. Perfectly stable at 373Mhz FSB but 375 = fail no matter what voltage i use. I'm using the Rev 1.x P5B-E so theres no NB voltage adjustment....

my q6600 is going at 3.2 1.30v I had it running at 3.6ghz but took 1.46v to get there and temps were higher then I wanted (64-65*c) in prime..

my 8800gt doesn't overclock very well though :( only 700/1000 before artifacts in ati tool.. oh well if nothing new doesn't come out I'll step up to the g92 gts..

sm_photo_missing.jpg

later this week im going to lap my heat sink and maybe my processor to get the 3.6ghz temps below 60.. and try to even the cores up some

65*c under prime isnt unheard of. Most of the time, 100% full load on both cores is almost unattainable unless you're running some serious encoding. Even Crysis only taxes both cores to about 85% and the chip hits only 50*c or so under load....

1.45v sounds about right for 3.6 as well - its certainly not in danger of causing damage. 1.6v....yes. 1.5v? Better have good air/water. 1.45v? A-OK :D

Tissimo - that sounds about right for the stock cooler - i get 690 Core, 1674Mhz Shader and 2000Mhz Memory before it starts becoming unstable. The stock cooler just isnt designed to handle it really. Get yourself a Thermalright HR-03GT and a phat 120mm sanyo-denki - problem solved. Also, once thats done you can voltmod! :D

yea, but my room temp varies a lot and I do do quite a bit of video encoding.. @ 3.2 ghz (400x8 1.30v) i get ~ 55-57*c full load, so leaves me a bit of area to play with and a big comfort cushion, haha..

yea, im going to hold off on the new cooler and voltmod for now. Luckily I got the new cooler on the card so it isn't as loud when @ 100%, but yea, still isn't enough. My buddy is getting the new GTS so going to see if its worth the extra money to step up. If its similar in crysis I'll probably buy a cooler and voltmod :)

I used to allot. Then I realized cars were a much worse investment, and I turned to those. I built my computer like 2 years ago... havent touched it since!

I'm doing my 3.6ghz @ 1.375 vcore. Running a $75 cpu (e2160) with a $50 heatsink (Big Typhoon) on a $100 motherboard (BFGTech 650i Ultra) using $65 ram (Corsair XMS2 DDR2800 4-4-4-12) with a $200 Radeon HD3870 (got 20% thanks to Dell)

Yeah, I love my computer ;) Gonna upgrade to an x38 motherboard before long, though, for Crossfire (twin HD3870s = win, imho) support.

The trick to having a high powered, low dollar computer, is to never go for the latest and greatest (only time I broke that, was for the HD3870 for $200) and learn what works well together, and overclock the hell out of shit.

I put more money into my case/cooling system, then I usually do in the cpu or ram.

I'm considering the Abit IP35 Dark Raider as an upgrade - i dont want crossfire or sli and the DFI Blood Iron was looking good until there was no firewire or eSATA support on it!

Memory...well i got a 4gb kit of this G.Skill and although its Micron D9, its the Rev E 'HNL' series so its not too keen on the old overclocks or tight timings, which is a shame, but this board cant do 400Mhz anyway, so i'll stick with it :D

The next heatsink for me is probably a Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme....got one of those for free thanks to Jesus (Ed)

I must, however, get more hard disks. 860gb isnt enough :(

You know I used to love doing this stuff, but I got tired of my computer having so many fans and constantly on. the noise was like a 747 taking off. That and I rather put money into the GF or car.
