Well I was just watching my racing vids from a while back and I seen and old vid that made me mad. I recall the hwole conversation with this guy also and it will be stated as all true comments.

This guy turns a 12.4 in a Mustang mach 1. I talk to him after the race. Notice the street tires on there and ask what is done to the car ect. It is only pushing 309 WHP. So I call BS. He whips out his dyno runs/vids from the previous day. So I ask to take a closer look interior wise. He's running full interior, even the spare. The weight listed in the door is 3900 so I ask if he would mind backing it onto the scale, it actually weighs over 4k with him in the car!

Now heres my ? Im looking to push 450+ this spring with a pair of racing slick and IM going to be dropping some weight. I see all these cars on here running some great HP numbers but no real significant times. why is this? You would think with 500WHP slicks, and a good driver you would be getting close to the 10's even with full interior? What are we doing wrong here?

heh. someone was fooling you. do the math, that's not possible. he's running a fairly large shot o'NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSSZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

funny, 12.4 w/4k comes out @ like 410rwhp....hmmmmmm....100 shot anyone? and that's assuming a pretty killer 60'....

ok So lets say 3800 lbs, and 500 whp where would you expect to be.

I looked for lines, bottles ect. No Wot switch, no visible push button. I just know I see damn mustangs with full interior weighing 3900+ and pushing 500 to the wheels and running high to mid 10's on slicks.

figure it out for yourself. there's a myriad of online HP/weight/ET calculators....realize they don't tell the whole story as they assume a "great" 60' (1.6ish?). you'll be hard pressed to get that in a MKIII....

im still trying to decide what turbo to run, but im going maft pro, full 3 inch exhaust again, set of 16" slicks mounted on some saw blades. Gutting the rear, moving the battery to the back, 550cc injectors, roll cage, racing buckets. Looking to basically take the motor to what it was built for which is 500+ WHP. The motor is .40 over, stock bottom end (well shot peened rods) 3in angled valve job, port and polish on the head.

Exhaust is a blitz nur spec 3 inch with a 3in test pipe.

Fuel delivery right now is a walbro 255 with a aerometive (sp) fuel presure regulator.

But I was looking into the jt58 turbo on jeff's page, but I think im going to go with the 62mm turbo instead since it's only 100 more and it's much needed power for me.

Clutch is a stage 4 (iirc) with a lightweight flywheel, 4 puck

But I think i might go auto for break boost, but if I stay manual I will install a 2 step.

Also going to run about 1 degree or more posiative camber so they will zero out on launch. Also the dissconnect on the sway bars is a must when at the track. Im going to do a No2 intercooler spray unless I decide to go with a dry shot with the wot switch with the msd box.

I have a couple of options here. I think Edgewater would be my best choice right now. It's a NHRA drag strip. Im going to try and get it done by opening day so it's only 30 some odd degrees out so it should run real nice. Also im going to be running race fuel so hopefully I can well exceed the 500 hp mark. I might go with something bigger than 550's so I can break it easily

I don't know I went last year opening day and all the cars were running great. Anyone with slicks were running in the 1.7's at the worst. It's a pretty well kept track and if you find the grooves you can shoot out of there. We'll just have to wait and see but Im getting so anxious.
