i tried looking around, found a few things but would like to see what others have to say, well im thinking of replacing the oil pump on my GTE, on the factory gauge it shows a bit under 40 PSI and kind of worried, i tried to look for a DIY thread but didnt find much, also just wondering if its easy to install or is it hard, and where can i find a good pump new or am i better off getting one from toyota.

thanks

1.40psi at 3k is good.
2.Toyota only. not something you want to skimp on.

You either have to pull the engine or drop the sub frame to get the pan off.

Just wondering: It may not be the pumps fault, How many miles on the engine? It could be lose clearances on the bearings. Short of taking the engine out, it's real easy. Just curious, I'm not sure why would you want to get anything other than new from Toyota. (please don't say "I'm on a budget") if that's the case, I'd try maybe a remanufactured one. Yeah, I'd spend the money on a new pump (not used) and not cheap on that.

If you get one from Advanced Auto parts, it IS a factory unit.
It's Aisin, and they grind the name toyota off the side.

yea see at 3k is a bit under 40 psi thats what im asking this question, i do see on the tsrm, that its around 35-40 psi for the safe range.

also this is a 5 spd with 161K, has all new gaskets, turbo has been rebuilt, new toyota HG with arps tq to 80lbs, and no leaks, boost up fine and good, just wondering if its good to put in a new oil pump before i go and spend on the car and then crap out later. also just to see what people has used, money wise, im ok with it, not rich and not poor but, i can keep up with the maintenance and do some bolt ups too it also, i just car running and on the road and just was curious.

also would any one say that its a hard job to do or not? i got tools and all and my own space to take my time, just rather get the info right before i do things.

thanks

Just have to either pull the engine or drop the sub frame. Pretty straight forward just time consuming.
