this is mkIII specific. this is the toyota supra repair manual has nothing but mkIII supra information... when i rebuilt my friends engine i had no problem getting the oil pump shaft in all i had to do is turn it a little while i pushed it to get the cogs to line up. it goes in before the rear timing cover. no prob.

lol

i have the same book.... followed it for the torque spec etc. etc. to rebuild friends 7mgte with no problems

its a pain when you didnt tear the engine down your self though... i hate that luckily i got to tear down the engine myself when i went to rebuild it... its alot easier when you seen how it came apart when you build one for the first time.

ouch... if youve got the oilpump already installed and pistons and crank the oil pump shaft slides in watch the cogs and rotate the shaft so you can line up the cogs and it slides right in...

when i tore down my friends and even my engine i put all bolts in little baggies and labeled everything as to make it easier on me when i put the engine back together. but if you didnt tear it down your following behind someone who didnt have it organized.

good luck and keep us posted

Well it was a few months ago that i tried to put it together. i went to go check it out today and i scuffed it up with emory cloth and it went right in. I did notice that arounf the edge where it went in there were some groves in it. Is that a replaceable part like a bearing?

I'm assuming that you are putting it in BEFORE the pistons and rods, right?

Grim, stupid question, but the TSRM states to remove the oil pump drive shaft before the crank, rods & pistons. Why would it need to be installed before they rods & pistons were installed?

I hope it can be installed after the rods & pistons. I've had so many delays on having my motor assembled, now I might have to wait some more as I find a drive shaft. :nono:
