Wait, lemme get this straight... you have a motor, and are trying to decide what to put it in? Sounds like a new one to me.

Chip's right though, rear sump for us Mk3 guys. Motor mounts are a bit different between the 86.5-88 and the 90-92. 89's kinda a bastard year of who-knows-what-you-get.
