I'd go ahead and do an aftermarket oil cooler, well, I think you'll have to anyways. Iirc the american GE blocks aren't ready for a stock GTE oil cooler without some modifications.
B&M 70266is adamn good cooler at a great price, and at 1.5" thick its thin enough to mount between the ac condenser and IC. I cruise at 180 degrees or less oil temps in the summer and 150-170 in the winter
