Oil burning randomly

My car seems to be burning oil out of the exhaust at almost completely random times. It really only does it at idle and seems to only be when the oil is not fully warmed up and the pressure is higher. Because of that it made me think it was the turbo pulling vacuum, combined with the higher oil pressure, creating a great enough pressure differential to suck oil into the intake lines. I've looked around and a lot of people mention PCV when they see things like this too. I'm not really sure what it does or how it works but could this be happening to me too?

The reason I have no idea what's doing it is because it seems to happen at completely random times. Like it's some kind of perfect temperature conditions between ambient temp, coolant(engine) temp, and oil temp. It did it today and when I left it was pretty freaking hot out.

I recently rebuilt the engine. It has prob about 2000 miles on it. I have no idea how the turbo seals are but the bearings were in decent shape when I inspected it during rebuilding the engine. Almost no axial shaft play. I tried to make sure I did a proper engine breakdown. I have to check compression to make sure it's not the rings but the engine feels strong.

i bet that`s your turbo oil seals, i have been there too. It happens when you are at idle and after you drive and stop it smokes like crazy.

but why does it only do it at certain times? Is it temperature related?

i will let the expert answer that but i guess is related to the speed of the turbo spining, i had 2 ct26 doing that, it was the reason i upgraded

oil will leak through the exaust side of the turbo like a dripping faucet which will burn every now and then when it dripps when the car is idleing. when you are moving the turbo is
spinning and exaust is flowing to much to notice it

But mine doesn't seem to differ at engine speeds or depending on load. It's like, some days it will do it, some days it won't. What kind of changes in the environment, etc. would cause that kind of a difference. Could it be dependent on how much load I put on the engine/how long I let it cool down before turning it off the time before it smokes?

Can someone explain the PCV system to me?

trust me man its the turbo. mine would do the same thing as yours. check the turbo for shaft play. if there is play more than likely bad turbo seals.
