OEM Oil pressure sending unit Removal for after market gauge/sending unit

Does the ecu care if i gets no signal from the sending unit?
I put a 91 7mgte in my 81 pickup 4x4 and I am running autometer gauges though out.
I just want to know if it is going to make the ecu shut the motor down.
Has anyone else installed after market oil pressure gauge?

Won't shut the motor down, but the ECU uses the oil pressure to trim fuel. Many people run a T off the port to supply to an aftermarket sender as well.
