Now it looks like the rack

Can you believe it? I checked a power steering leak out myself and it looked like it was coming from the pump. I even brought it in to a mechanic who confirmed it. So, I spend a few hours and install the new pump today only to find it still leaking after I'm done. I now find the pass side rack boot is torn and it looks like the fluid is coming out of there. Does it seem possible? Could it shoot up to the bottom of the pump under pressure leading me to think it was the pump?

Hmm... dunno if its possible or not, but doubt it. It is possible, however, that they were both bad. I found a good reman'd. rack at a local parts store. Don't remember how much it was, but it was a whole lot cheaper than the dealer.

Is there a seal for the rack inside of the rack and pinion boot on the passenger side? Could that leak and spill transmission fluid through the boot?

Yes, there is a seal. No, I don't think you can replace it. I've never tryed, just went and got a remanufactured rack.

Thanks. I'm going to replace the rack. Doesn't look like too bad of a job.

Yes, there is a seal inside of the boot, and it is possible to replace...

They run from about $150 - $220 with your core. Anything in between seems about right.
