No more spark?

So I just finished helping a friend change out the hg on the supra. Well, we had some problems in the beginning because he wanted to install 550cc and a AFPR. Ended up fouling the spark plugs and so we bought some new ones and the car started right up.

Well the engine started and idled just fine, but after 5 mins of running it starts sputtering and dies. We tried to start it back up but nothing.

Things we checked:
-Aeromotive AFPR showed 28 psi
-We can definately smell fuel
-No spark coming from the coil pack
-Fuses appear fine

SO, I'm stumped. About 5 mins earlier we were getting spark, but now none of the coil packs work. What could this be?

confirm that you aren't getting spark. find a spare plug and ground it out to see if you have spark. if not start there and find out why you have no/weak spark.

you test your injectors?

any codes?

There is fuel, you can smell it out the open downpipe. :icon_bigg

I disconnected the wires from the coil pack and there is no arcing. 5 mins before hand there was. I did find a wimpy looking ground wire though which is barely touching the coil packs... not sure if the ground wire would cause all coils to not fire.

Although you should always have a good ground, the little ground wire shouldn't really matter.

No spark kan be a lot of things. After checking for spark at the spark plugs I'd first check the CPS wires. It's a common point of faillure. Wiggle them and then try to start.

Also, If i'm not mistaking the afpr PSI should read about 32psi at least. It won't have anything to do with the starting issues but you should make sure to have a good base fuel pressure. (I hope you also have the lexafm to compensate for the 550's ? )

Mabye he had the Vac hose connected for the afpr when he took the reading.

I'd try grounding that little blue wire you were talking about and see where that gets you.

My guess is the CPS as well... but what should I check for? The wires looked fine when it was in place... not sure how the CPS or CPS wires would go bad after letting it idle for 5 mins.
