I have no heat in my 87.. not a big deal here in FL, but with the ac on (even 85) its colder then hell.. not what I want.. I've bypassed the vsv and just hooking vacume up to the valve, but still no heat... any ideas?

When you bypassed the VSV did the diaphram which actuates the control valve move? There are a couple possibilities, Diaphram, control valve, OR the interior temp sensor is telling the CC that the interior is much hotter than 85 in which case it's blowing cold to try to cool the interior off (I don't know if the CC would react thst way in that situation though).

I'm not sure if the interior sensor would cause the CC blow cold if the CC is set to 85º, but it's possible. There are two sensors by the way, driver's side foot well and passenger side dash vent.

An easy way of checking if it's the CC's reaction (if you know the sensors work) is to hold a can of compressed air upside down and give both sensors a shot, it'll cool them quick. Give them a minute to dry off before you turn on the ignition just to be safe.
