hello, in first gear at 6,000 rpm my supra reaches 40 miles and hour. When i open the hood, if i listen closely i can hear a hissing sound every now and then.

question is at 6,000 rpm is it suppose to reach 40 miles or iam having some sort of leak?

im really new to cars in general, any comments would be great.

Your speed is determined by your transmission, your differential, your tire size and your engine speed(rpm). I'm not even going to search, but 40mph sounds normal for 6k rpm in an R154. :dunno:

A leak of ANY sort will not affect how fast you are going in a given gear/rpm.

If you are new to cars and have a hissing sound, i would NOT be hitting 6k rpms.

40 at 6k sounds about normal, 1st is just to get you rolling not a speed gear

hissing= boost leak

but you wont make boost at idle so start looking for a vacume leak. You could also hook a gauge up, wont be definative but might give you an idea of how big the leak is.
