I just picked up a fairly clean 87 Turbo Targa. White/Burgundy. Its been family owned since 1991 and I am now the 3rd owner now.

Previously I have owned two IS300's and currently own an MK4 Supra and GS350. I am fairly versed and have a preference for Lexus/Toyota.

I am hoping to restore this MK3 and have a really nice classic daily driver. Im probably looking to convert it to 5spd. I want to keep the exterior fairly stock, but I want to really beef up the suspension with some coilovers and swabars and perhaps a few undercarriage braces and control arms bushings, etc etc.

I would appreciate all tips on where I can find the best prices for MK3 mods.

I also would like a really nice looking but quiet cat back exhaust solution. I currently have the blitz nurspec on the MK4 and its a headache on wheels with the silencer removed paired with a 3" turbo back free flow to muffler.

Anyway, I have been reading this site for several weeks now and just noticed the zero post policy, so I figured I'll start to chime in.

Im hoping to go a lot more OEM with the MK3. I already have a my spare Volk CE28 Time attacks for the MK3. I'll probably be looking to upgrade the brakes, suspension, all vacuum lines and hoses (via Curt at Elmhurst toyota) and lighting if possible. Once the car is solid for the winter, I will focus on all the interior cleanup and minor bodywork.

I already threw the Time Attacks on the MK3..... I would love a TRUST(discontinued :( ) exhaust. Iwill look into some coilovers and bushing kits and new tie rod ends and other things to bring the 87 into 09

As for the exhaust, I have the Tanabe Medalion and it's amazing, less noisy than the HKS system. I think MVP still have those on sale. BTW, nice MK4.

Thanks guys.... I have been debating a 1JZ or 1UZ (.020 over, decked head high compression)swap. I am still just reading all the FAQ's and stickies on the forums here. I want to get a good understanding of what is involved, and hopefully I wont have to reinvent the wheel with this. Maybe I will just fix all the quirks on the 7M and let that go through the winter. I will still do the W58 swap as planned in Sept or Oct. Again, Im not going for crazy power i just want a fun daily driver.

Im more concerned with how the engine harnesses interface with the chassis harnesses in the kick panels. especially on a 1UZ swap. I have already been a member of Lextreme and ClubLexus for years (almost a decade to be exact)

I will keep reading I will assume that the SC400 SC300 have the same kick panel interface and the MK3 should be similar. i will keep digging :)

thanks for the warm welcome. i will post a build thread as soon as I get the facts and the ball rolling.
