^ Either muffler looks good to me. Sorry to keep draging this on but my dad says to get a "Turbo"(meaning no packing) muffler and don't worry about the glasspack or premuffler muffler. Any opinions? Any place to find a "Turbo" muffler in the same style as the two Magnaflows I like?

I don't mean to come off as a dick, but spend a little time looking at internal pics of a muffler. all company websites will have internal diagrams. Usually the cat (regardless of who makes it) will be the most restrictive part of the whole exhaust. any non-chamber muffler will be fine. The least restrictive muffler will cause the exhaust to change directions the least amount of times. this will also be the loudest muffler. what type of tip that is on the muffler will also make a small (but noticeable) tonal change. with all the mufflers i have had on any car i've had (borla, magnaflow, dynomax, MAC) here is what i have found (and any muffler shop will tell you the same thing):

a. the larger the case, the quieter the muffler (a 19"Lx8"wx5"T muffler will always be quieter than a bullet/cannon muffler)
b. the smaller the diam (tubing) the quieter the muffler
c. the more times the gas changes direction (this includes pipe and muffler) the quieter the exhaust
d. the more stuff the gas travels through, the quieter the exhaust

(see the pattern?)

my advice? look around and listen. find stuff on youtube, streetfire, etc. What is perfect for one person is wrong for the next, only you can make the call.

Seems like those mufflers are WAY overpriced, I paid $60 shipped for my OBX canister muffler on Ebay. I just had my exhaust done not too long ago on my 89 N/A with the muffler mentioned above, 2.5" piping all the way back to the cat, with a resonator, let me tell you, it sounds FANTASTIC. Probably the best sounding N/A I've ever heard, the resonator and the cat make a big difference, sounds really deep, and not raspy/loud.

Do you have a sound clip by chance?

the n/a is 2 1/4" stock right? look for an OE turbo cat (2 1/2) and call it a day. It will be cheaper and last longer than any aftermarket cat (random tech included)

Do you realize how hard it's going to be to find a stock turbo exhaust that's no rusted out or looks/performs half way decent? The closest thing you would probably find that would be like the stock turbo exhaust would be the Pacesetter exaust. 2.5" piping, but it will rust over time too... I got one with my turbo supra when I bought it, never installed longer than 30 minutes... It's just taking up room in my garage...;)

its not about being pissy, its the mis-contextualizing of info that seems to be running rampent on these forums (making it appear like the other forums) that drives me up the wall (as well as many others that have just left). :runaway:

but on a side note, thanks :drink1:
