I built a custom front lip for my 86.5 N/A. The covering is made from vinyl baseboard moulding. It has a semi-rigid support structure behind it, that I can bend back into place if I ever knock it out of shape. The lip looks great, but I also lowered my car 2 inches, and now the new lip, which lowers the nose 3 more inches, scrapes on darn near the lines painted on crosswalks.

What I am looking for is anyone with any ideas on what, where, how I can protect this. I am thinking if I can find hard plastic moulding, in a "U" or even a "J" shape, I can cover the bottom of the lip and protect it from rashing. I think perhaps a .5-1 inch deep U groove piece with about a 1/4" wide channel would do the trick. It would need to be flexible to follow the curve of the lip, but hard so that it can take at least an occasional driveway. It would also need to be black or paintable.

One thought I had was some kind of hard plastic hose that I could cut open to create the channel. PVC is too hard and not flexible enough. Garden hose is not hard enough to stand up to the road...irrigation hose?

Any ideas?

I'd almost be tempted to buy some lexan or plexi if I were in your shoes, cut into desired length strips/shapes, and form it to your needs with a heat gun.

this pic shows it best. This was taken right after I installed it. its still al purty and not rashed...lol

Ive made some changes to the front end since then, but this should give you an idea of what Im trying to cover.

Lexan or plexi would work I guess, but I was hoping to find a simpler solution. Im going to run out to Home Depot and just look around. maybe I can mod something

In case anyone cares, I found something that will work. Its called crimp welt. I got it from an upholstery shop. Its basically a rubber moulding used on door panels and underhood moulding. It worked out real nice. But thanks anyways...lol
