I need the forums help. I’m currently deployed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and have very limited access to the internet. It can take roughly ten minutes to load a page. I need to get some information from the forums but cannot effectively search. If I could get the forums help searching, i.e. providing links or the information if you know it. I’m really not an advocate for spoon feeding people information, but this one time I do need help. Here is what I need:

I’m performing a 2JZ swap from an Aristo into my 87 MKIII. I have purchased a Aristo front clip from Aaron at driftmotion(great guy, helped me out immensely due to my current location). I need to know what I can make work off the front clip.

1. Is it possible to use the hydro fan setup?

2. Is it possible to use the intercooler and piping off of the Aristo clip?

3. If I have the clip do I still need a 2JZ throttle cable?

4. I know the 1JZ needs a power steering line from a 2JZ, does the JDM 2JZ have the same issue?

Any pointers or answers to the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

1. yes just get the mkiii hydro fan stuff imho would be the easiest way. (i purchased a mech fan water pump, pulley, serpentine belt, mkiv turbo fan and a mkiv fan clutch and reused my 7m's fan shroud)
2. i would just buy a DIY kit from aaron and a IC while you are at it no point in trying to make something work from a different car upgrade now heh.
3. yes, the aristo is rhd and your car should be LHD (unless you have a rhd car) but you need that cable much shorter, a new cable is 58$ or so from toyota (champion or mossy) you can use its cable but just imagine all of the slack and it draped across your engine bay
4. yes, for a 2jz i recommend buying the MKIV line from a parts store (i paid 54$). it fits perfectly, unless you have a pre 89 car then you need to cut the tab off the bottom but otherwise...

if you want to keep the VSV for the p/s you'll want the mkiv line, the driftmotion line is good for 1jz's because the VSV bolts into the p/s pump and the p/s line bolts into the thing that holds the vsv. but not good for 2jzs if you want to keep the vsv and do not have the section that the vsv bolts onto (the vsv bolts right to the mkiv p/s line thats why i like using it)

Thank you for the reply tlo86.

Could you please clarify "MKIII hydro fan stuff"?

fan, shroud, hydro lines (they should be the same, i dont have my old 2jz hydro pump or else id compare i just have a 1jz pump near me)
hydro fan ecu

not sure about everything else as i usually suggest going the clutch fan route so the water pump wont be harder to source but it has become easier to get lately. aaron could probably source all of the parts you'll need for that setup

if you have a clip I would try to use the aristo's stuff. I think it'll work just need to trim the shroud a little bit (the fan & shroud). You'll have to custom wire the ecu to harness though as it goes through the body harnesses of the car to the ecu.

thats right he does have the clip lol forgot about that should have everything he needs.

if it doesnt fit right he can always get the fan+shroud from a mkiii

That's good news thanks.

Hey tissimo, is the Hydro fan ECU part of the main engine managment ECU or is it it's own unit? (I assume it's its own unit)

it is its own, like ABS

Cool, now I just have to figure it where to put it. Is it inside the engine compartment or is it inside the cabin? Also do you have a pin out or is it relatively obvious. I

I do not have the pinouts for the unit. The Solenoid for the hydro pump is in the engine harness, the rest you will have to add (fairly easy though). For the Radiator temp sensor (assuming its the same as the MKIIIs hydro ecu) just use the TRC wires for it (its what I do when I wire an aristo harness for a car using a hydrofan (usually 1jzs using 2jz electronics).

I think the 2 wires for the solenoid are IK1-D9 and IK1-C13. I will verifiy tomorrow (doing a aristo harness now for a buddy).
