I think you would be happy with either. It all depends on how much you want to spend. I think the 1J is a bit more for the swap. But with the 1J, you can attain 350whp without touching the stock internals, maybe more. If you go 7mgte, the initial swap will cost less, but you will have to do some modifications to get it into the high 300's. Stock HG might not handle it if it hasn't been re-torqued. I don't think the stock turbo will get you there, and you might have to get rid of the Karman sensor, and go with a MafT.

I could be wrong though. Some searching would probably give you all the answers you are looking for. There is quite a bit to consider if you are on a budget, like most of us are.
