So. Cal
I have an 87 supra turbo, auto. And about three weeks ago my speed dometer stop working and my overdrive light started blinking and the trany seem lazy. Some one here in SM gave me a website to check the trany codes, and i did, i got:

code 42-defective No1 speed sensor(incombination meter)-severed wire harness orshort circuit.

could some one help my make sence out of this code? and were exactly is the part i need to replace, located at?.....im farly new to supra's (atleast the turbo model) So yourhelp will greatly be appreciated.

thanks

Replace your speedo cable...the #1 speed sensor needs it to function.
It's also likely the reason your speedo stopped working too ;)

The tranny uses the speed sensor to determine shift points...there is also the #2 speed sensor on the tranny.

When you replace the cable, make sure it is no where near the downpipe...that will melt the cable causing it to fail again.
