So hear is my problem, something is going on with my transmission, i was racing someone off the line and i launched at about 3100 and boost spiked very bad. When i went to shift into 2nd all i hear is a loud POP. Now hear is what i am not understanding I tried to drive it but it would only go into 1st, 2nd, and N. So i had it towed home because i would have had to take the Highway home, and i did not want to over heat my car. So i get a night's rest.

Morning comes along and i go out and try to figure whats wrong with my car I start it up, NOW it only gos into 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Will not engage into 1st, or 2nd.

What do you so pose my problem is....

P.s pardon my spelling

Yes i can put it into 1st when the car is off but when i go to start it, it pops out.

If you try to move, it sounds like the thrust washer but if it's cracked, then I would suggest pulling it out to do further inspection.

Yes i am going to try and pull it on Monday, how hard is it to pull?
A couple hours if you take your time but mine has come out several times. A rookie, maybe 4-5. Let us know how long it takes you. :)

PS: You'll need another person to help pulling it out to make things a little easier.

If any of you have any pointers for removal of the trans that would be just great! Any kind of special tools i will need? or just your basic ones?

Basic tools do a pretty good job, but I found that having about 3 feet of extensions for one or two of the trans bolts helped me out!

There is more info on this site, but you can also loosen the two motor mounts and use a jack or something similar to raise the front end of the motor which will tilt the rear back at also allows some easier access to some of the upper bolts.

HTH...and have fun!

1.Make sure that you have the car up on all 4's on jackstands,
You need to take the shifter out, and the stereo/ac bezel off to do so. 8 10mm bolts to get out.
2.You'll need to take off the DP and cat, you can leave the rest of the exhaust.
3.Drain the tranny with the huge 24mm bolt on the side of the tranny.
4.Remove the driveshaft, start with the 4 bolts on the rear end, then unbolt the 2 on the carrier bearing.
5.Remove the clutch slave cylinder
6.Remove the starter
7.Remove the inspection plates on the tranny,
8.Unbolt the 6 12mm bolts from the pressure plate to the flywheel through the openings on the tranny. You will have to turn the motor to do this, I use a long screwdriver or a ratchet on the crank bolt.
9.Unbolt the tranny mount
10.Unbolt the tranny from the motor all 14mm, for the top bolts, let the tranny hang down, it will by itself with the tranny mount unbolted, and use some extensions to get the top bolts out.
11.With all the bolts out you need to turn the tranny and hold on. I put it on my chest, you can also get you a tranny jack to help you out and pull it out.

This should most of what you have to do.
