Are you guys using the ATI adaptor kit to bolt the GM trans to the 7M?? what converter? What else do I need to swap a GM auto into the car? I can get a TH350 cheap and get it built pretty cheap as well, so what would I be looking at $$$ wise for the rest of the swap?? I have a built Toyota in it right now and Im already overpowering it, so I am lookin at the TH350 swap. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks guys.

i have the plate from shawn (besttrans) and running the precision converter.

if you still have the heater hardline on the backside of the motor, you will need to modify it. you can either modify the hardline (not easy with the motor in the car) or you can modify the bellhousing on the trans.

Coan makes a great tranny also, but is a bit more money than the ATI. Hard to beat the ATI converter they build for the supra. It is a custom unit similar to the Fuel/Blown converters that are made to handle several thosand HP. I can't wait for you to make a build thread as your 7m will be something to envy. That turbo you are getting is something new above the normal 78 turbonetics used to make. Looking forward to seeing it run.

Rich, it all depends on how soon turbo and other parts you sent me arrive. Right now I am wasting my time browsing Internet few hours per day :icon_frow(have 4 monthes on vacation)
I had quick look at Coan website - I am very impressed. Previously I thought ATI is benchmark in auto trannies. Just look at this page
http://www.coanracing.com/Catalog.asp?CatClass=03TU
There are many interesting things there, like electrically controlled valve body
http://www.coanracing.com/PartPicPopUp.asp?PartNo=COA-32026&BPID=1&NP=5

Billet aluminium drums
http://www.coanracing.com/PartPicPopUp.asp?PartNo=COA-32801&BPID=1&NP=5

Seems like I am more interested in Coan tranny. Rich, can you clarify please if TH350 Ultrabell (part # COA-33205) is SFI approved? Or I need transmission shield (part # COA-33101) Both of them on the bottom of this page

Yes, Coan is a great tranny. ATI is a great tranny also if set up correctly.

Both companies have nearly the same set-ups if all the options are added in. I like the service at Coan a good bit better than ATI. ATI gave Duane and I the holy hell of a run around on getting his tranny built. But it turned out to be a nice tranny in the end.

I emailed you something on the ATI and Coan transmissions. Turbo is in flight too, It was so nice I almost cried loading it on the truck.

I also think it should be, why else they call it ULTRAbell :biglaugh:
I also assume Ultrabell bolt pattern should match ATI adapter plate

Yes it does.

Keep in mind though, you will have to modify the coolant line that goes around the block. You can't cut the ultra bell or it loses its SFI cert. You will have to grind a little bit off to clear the EGR plate though. More clearancing will need to be done to the tunnel also as the ultrabell is VERY thick.

Yes, I saw pictures of ultrabell

My EGR, heater and associated pipes/hoses gone. Hope there will be enough room there. I beleive tunnel will have to be cut to accomodate ultrabell
