i could give you a very good shop here in new mexico.. but i doubt youd be willing to come over here. they do top quality work though. if i was you i would goto a few shops locally and look inside, see there machines, how things are set up.. is it clean and organized. ask to see some of there work as well. i was simply blown away from my other machine shop to my new one the quality is basically comparing shit to chocolate lol.

Whats the name of the shop or shops down there, I actually bought my supra from a guy in New Mexico. I would be willing to check it out, there arent any shops around here (within 300 miles) that have worked on 7M's or imports in general. I just need a great shop with experience, im willing to pay what it takes to have an excallent motor.

they are building mine. they have built a 2jz before but i believe mine is the first 7m. they have plenty of race motors out right now. the guy stands by his work and has only had 2 cylinder heads come back one was when he first started and another was recently it was off a chevy head i believe. it cracked right between the 2 exhaust ports in the middle. not his fault but he helped the guy out with half off pricing. only one engine has came back and it was mainly because the owner installed the block and it got dirt inside but the guy was in another state and had to eat the cost of the engine because he could not inspect it himself (another machine shop called him and let him know) i should be getting my engine back soon so we will see how there first 7m does. I understand if you do not trust a shop that has not done a 7m before but seeing there work first hand i trust them with any of my engines. i will post pics as soon as i get it back. if you do not trust them with the block i would definitely send my head to them..the resurface job looks like a mirror, also they have a newen contour bb machine for there valve jobs, it does amazing work. my head was flow tested at 22in hg after a 5 angle radius intake valve job and a 2 angle radius exhaust valve job. while stock was around 15-18 in hg.

Don't mean to pry otherwise, but can you pm me the mods and price when all said and done? I have an idea what my build motor will have and curious what price i'm looking at.

If a shop has built tons of big power 2jz's, would you trust them with a 7m? Does the 2jz take just as smooth of a deck finish for the mhg's to seal?

There is a shop about 20 min from me that im going to be using. They are a little pricey, but I have been told they do excelent machine work. I'd have to look up the number but its pfeifers in freeport IL. They have done machine work for the likes of barret jackson, and build race motors. I have been told by a couple supra people that they do great work for the 7m aswell. Tell them your specs and what you want done, and they can give you a price. They are building mine for me with the machine work, and reassembly of everything, and I was quoted about 2 grand. Milling the head, block, mild port and polish, honing (or overboring the cylinders if needed), line bore of the mains, and balancing the rotating assembly. They said somewhere between 1750-2500 depending on the condition it all comes in as. If there is alot of disassembly they will charge more, but i plan to strip that pig to nothing basically before it goes in. But they get to reassemble the whole thing, cause im not a fan of tight specs. LOL
