hey everyone i have a 87 turbo, i put on some new injector o-rings and as i was doing that i realized one of the injectors wasnt even plugged in. now its running better then ever. only real thing i need to fix is the exhaust leak in the downpipe and a few other things. but my question now is before i changed the o rings when you turn the key it would beep and some of the lights would come on the dash board but now it doesnt do that, i accidently
hit the alternator with the ratchet when i was putting the fuel rail back on and it sparked. could that have done something? but when i turn on the car on and give it some gas the tach comes on and starts beeping and does its thing like it use to. what do you think the problem is? also is there any universal speedo cables or someone have one for sale or should i just goto toyota. im sorry for the long post and everything. thanks for the help,

Zach

Could you be more specific about which lights are out and what beep (i.e door warning, seatbelt)?

Check all your fuses...in the drivers side kick panel and under the hood. Specifically the Dome and Gauge fuses.

You will have to get the speedo cable from the dealer...or, see if someone has a good used one by posting in the "Want to Buy" section. I believe they are specific to the kind of tranny you have.

I would assume it is seatbelt beeping sounds. also you usually hear a clicking sound and the fuel pump turning on but none of that happens any more either. nothing on the dash works at all when you turn the key but i use a remote start switch to start it. car doesnt crank or anything with the key. but as soon as i use the remote start to start it and i press the gas once the dash starts to work again, and the seatbelt warning beep starts the tach also functions again. thanks for all the help and sorry if im not being very clear.

That sounds like one hell of a wiring cut-up. I wish I could give you advice, but it sounds like theres to much fabrication to the wiring harness for me to be of any use. I bought my car with this BS aftermarket alarm/shock sensor, I ripped it all out and restored the Stock alarm because it eventually went out on me. Look underneath the dash and check all your fuses, connect any dangling wires..

you have no idea how bad the harness was cut up when i bought it, it didnt even run at all... ive had to custom fab just about everything to get it to run the way its running now, and i still havent been able to drive it yet and im even paying insurance!! it pisses me off well just a little. i'll check fuses tomorrow after i wake up, thanks for the help everyone.

Put it back to stock... Get the wiring diagram and make urself a new harness outta your old one, or... do the easy thing and go to the junkyard and get urself another body harness. Sucks that they're discontinued. I got a buddy who can sell you a dash harness for $50

all of the above + next time disconnect the negative battery terminal when working on your car and you won't have this problem again. Good luck.
