So I went to the track for the first time tonight in the Supra. Actually it is my first time at the track in a rwd car ever. I went there hoping I could at least break into the 13's.
Car weighed 3635lbs. no weight reduction and 1/2 tank of gas.
First run was a 15.1

My fastest run of the night...
1/4----14.209 @ 99.71mph
1/8----9.2 @ 78.7
60'----2.224
R/T---.353

Then my clutch started slipping :( I put a little too much heat into it at the line one run and it never really recovered after that..Liked to slip on shifts to 2nd and 1st would take a few seconds to fully grab good. I guess its time for a new clutch. Also it liked to hit boost cut on quick shifts to 2nd.
Wouldnt spin the tires, just had a little wheel hop once if I didnt slip the clutch much.. I was shifting at about 5500rpm since my power was really falling off above that. Most of my runs were 14.5-14.7 all night.
It was still a pretty fun night.. I beat a couple of modded 5.0's, a modded 98 gt, and a 97 camaro SS auto..and of course an integra & civic running low 16's all night.

My mods-Are in my sig.
It was a cool night though so i was running at about 11psi on the stock ct.
I left the stock front swaybars hooked up as well.

-Stock intercooler pipes and IC...I think this is to blame for the power loss above 5k rpms.

Falken Ziex ze 912 tires.245/45/17 @ 40psi..I forgot to bring a tire gauge and air them down a bit but I dont think it mattered anyway, they didnt really slip.
I can't wait to go back with a driftmotion clutch and maybe a new IC and hardpipes!

Thanks. I was kind of dissappointed about not breaking 13's though. Next time I go i'll have a new clutch and intercooler so that shouldnt be a problem. I'll probably stick some drag radials on the ol' sawblades so i dont have to worry about skinnies. That and i have to drive it 30 mins to the track

Even though it feels like the power falls off, with bpu mods, you should wind it out to redline. I bet you'll run a faster time.
One philosophy behind shifting at redline is during your shift (while you are coasting), you will be coasting at a faster rate, covering more ground, and at 99 mph, you might be able to wind out 3rd and save one extra shift.
Try it out and see what happens!
