i am about to buy a 1j for my 89 supra. i need to know how to find out if i have a earlier 89 or a latter. from what i have read the earlier 89's had the 88 style crossmember,and the latter ones had the crossmember/mounts that will allow you to drop the 1j strait in. any help is appreciated.thanks.

pre 89 has square mounts. 89+ have round. Some early 89 have square.
All you need is the engine brackets that match the year of your car and the 1jz will drop in. Bic sells them driftmotion sells them.
Also this has been covered many many times before.
Advanced search at the top right.
Click the tab single search content.
Go to the first scroll bar and click on the 1jz tech section
Enter your key words and press search.
That will search only through that section and yeild much better results.
