Heavy Duty Bearing Cover Plate, much stronger than the stamped stock one. Nice piece of work.

Is the stock one a problem? I mean, I'll probably buy one when I rebuild my R154, but I wasn't aware that it was a weak point.

I have never heard of one actually breaking but mine looked like it had some wear on it that could casue some play in the output shaft. Might as well put the stronger one since I was going to replace the stock one.

How many miles did it have, and how severe of duty had it been subjected to?

I have 88K original miles. Maybe 2500 miles on the built engine and big turbo. The car was still running below 10.0 AFR at WOT so I didnt abuse it very much. The wear looks like it is 0.1-0.2mm using the feeler gauges so its not all that bad. I just figured if I hit the HP goals I laid out I better have a tight tranny.
