Hey I recently purchased a 1989 Toyota Supra Targa Turbo and the thing is minty no rust fresh looking engine will be posting pics in spring time damn snow over here. So ya the only thing that I was looking into changing the automatic tranny to a standard and just wondering if you guys had some input on the subject because if you guys dont think it is worth it or if will be pretty easily done let me know and does any1 know of somewhere I could get a standard tranny. And I am planning to get performance mods for this thing in the near future so would it be better to get upgraded standard or just beef up the stock auto set-up? Any response is appreciated.

Just did my swap recently, some parts to get are a pain.
Also one thing that never got mentioned in any of the swap threads, is the fact that you have to get different flywheel bolts for the 5spd flywheel(they are longer then the auto ones).
The swap itself took me 3 days. (Never done a tranny swap without pulling a motor before) With this being said, extensions for your tools are going to be your best friends. (I used 6 extensions to get to the starter bolts and the top bell-housing bolts.

Some good threads that helped me a lot:

What would be my options if I decided to stick with the Auto tranny? How or what would be recommended to change to aftermarket parts to make auto ready to take higher boost and higher hp/torque let me know so I can make the decision if I want to do the swap.
