An Indian man has made headlines after divorcing his wife for what may be considered a very petty reason to some but quite reasonable to others. According to reports, the disgruntled husband thought it best to end the marriage because he was absolutely tired of having nothing to eat but noodles all day. While divorce cases are generally low in India, they are slowly on the rise as more women move from rural areas to be independent and part of the growing working-class community. Husband leaves wife because she only made him noodles. Many years ago, the responsibility of making sure homes were well kept and tummies were happy and full fell solely on a wife’s shoulders. Times have changed drastically since then and now household chores and expenses are often divided equally among men and women. This was certainly not the case for an Indian couple who recently got a divorce because the husband was tired of eating noodles. According to principal district and sessions court judge ML Raghunath, he presided over the case which he has since dubbed the “Maggi case” – because of the popular Maggi noodle brand. The New Indian Express reports that the man grew tired of eating noodles that his wife prepared for him for breakfast, lunch and supper every single day. Eventually, this led to their divorce upon mutual consent. Divorce in India. Meanwhile, the judge also discussed the rising divorce rate in India: “Divorce cases are increasing drastically over the years,” Raghunath said at the press conference, according to The New Indian Express. “Couples have to stay together for at least a year before seeking divorce.
