I drive a 92 eclipse FF NA for a beater and like ever 5 or 6 days the oil filter gets loose. Real loose, like spinning freely loose. I hate eclipses and don't know alot about then. If it was a Toyota I would have no problems. Can some one help me????:1zhelp:

Sorry to ask questions about eclipses, my bad!!!!!:nono:

If you are going to change the oil anyway, you should be ok. Just make sure and lube the o-ring w/ fresh oil when you put on the new filter. Also, get it just about as tight as you can w/ your hand. That's about the only thing that should be needed.

BTW...I have seen things in the sky that I couldn't readily identify, but I'm a stickler for identifying aircraft from the gound (they were all AIRCRAFT). I'm actually relieved that you said UFO and not Alien...I have a completely different answer to that question. :)

I come from a land down under
I can't remember which car/motor it was but many years ago I had this problem and the only way I found to stop it was to get a big hose clamp that would fit over the filter and a piece of safety wire tighten the clamp over the wire then anchor it to the block so it couldn't unscrew.
(pretty sure I used a pan bolt)

Just tack it.... lol

It's not the filter that loosens, but the threaded stud. People have used loctite on the threads that go into the housing, but it will still loosen. I would do exactly what Ian had done in the past, with safety wire and a hose clamp.
You can either do that, or convert to a 1990 oil filter housing.

"As mentioned, everyone should safety wire the filter. It takes 5 minutes to do. Just put a worm clamp on the filter, then loop safety wire through it, and then to the corner of the block. Twist the wire until it is taught." -Mike Rizzotti
