Let me start this off by saying sorry for bringing this topic up again but i skimmed through the forum and couldn't find the answers that i needed. So i have been considering doing the afm mod and just needed some info. First off should i find the afm in a junk yard or should i order one off line (i.e. suprastore).
Second should i use the 550cc injectors from the Lexus or should i use aftermarket ones?
Third would be tuning, What would be the best method piggy back or maft pro?
Not very knowledgeable in tuning with piggy backs or anything like that please keep in mind

thanks for the help

If you go MAFT-Pro, you don't need the Lex (1UZFE) meter. I suggest a new replica, but it isn't needed. I really like my SupraSport replica. It came with the bypass screw installed. You can still hit fuel cut with it, and need a tune if you are pushing high boost on a bigger turbo.

The MAFT-Pro seems to be a good choice, if you have read the threads. Like the Lex meter, it is a low cost solution to fuel cut, and is a tuning device in and of itself.

1. you can usually find them good on ebay, suprastore might have them, but if you want i bought one when i first started my build and never used it and ill sell you it for super cheap if you want.
2. i dont think injectors from the lexus are the same... i ordered 550cc's for the 7mgte. rc's to be exact.
3. as said above /\ if you run maft-pro there will be no need for the lex maf at all because you could run it in speed density and just use a map sensor. otherwise the typical lex/550 modder uses a Apexi Safc or neo "dont take my work on the neo though not sure if it will work with 7mgte but it should" ...... i also have a map ecu for sale that isnt listed that again will sell to you for a low price because i want it out of my garage lol again brand new.

The one supra store sells is a lipp brand aftermarket and is expensive. You can find them used for 20-100$ with electronics(there the same) or in the yards. I wouldnt buy from suprastore either.

The injectors off the 1uz are only like 280cc or something so you either need some rx7 t2 injectors or new. I would get the new so you dont run into any problems.

You also should upgrade your fuel pump. Tuning is highly recommended, I would say necessary, but some will beg to differ. They are probably the same ones that blame the car when it breaks.

well I'm thinking Lexus afm, rc 550cc injectors, maft pro just in case the last thing i need is a blown engine due to running lean, and a walbro 255 fuel pump?

As mentioned twice in this thread, if you get the maft pro, you dont need any AFM.

Maft pro is a translator, to take a map sensor signal (0-5V), and send the stock ECU a signal it understands (HZ). Thus eliminating the AFM.

maft pro would be the best way to go. dont have to be rc 550's can be PTE injectors also, can be any 7mgte injectors. a walbro 255 i would also recommend. ill pm you somtimes about the lex afm and map ecu.

It won't run lean. If you have problems, it is because you are having problems. Not from the meter.

I'm glad someone asked this simple question because I'm new at all this. Luckily for me, I already know what way I'm going because I bought a Lexus AFM, 550 injectors, and a Walbro 255 fuel pump. I just need to figure out what controller to get and where (and ultimately...how much is one going to cost me).

Yup. And you can do a basic tune with the lex, afpr, and a wideband.

I lost all my links but maybe someone can post it or search for the reg reimer(sp?) link about the lex and 550's. It has some very good info and info about how to tune the lex.
