Hello hello..

I am just wondering if there is a common cause/cure to leaky wing syndrome?

Does Toyota offer a gasket that one would put in-between the wing and the hatch of should some new silicon and such be sufficient?

Thanks for the help guys, greatly appreciated.

Jag....thanks a million for that.

I am not 100% sure it is the wing yet, but I do know that there is water getting into my hatch. It gets into where the wiper motor is, than when I pop the hatch water comes out of the plastic. I am just pretty sure it is the wing, that is all. I have to remove it to get some work done anyway, so I figure why not.

Thanks guys.

on mine it's the molding right beside where the hatch and the car meet that leaks and it comes out of the plastic when i lift the hatch to.

The problem is the 95% likely due to the seal around the window. I too have this same problem and have sealed up everything but that. Chris J also had this problem and had his window resealed - no more water.

Have your rear window resealed and you'll fix the problem.

Hrmm. I thank you greatly for this interesting piece of information.

I guess they have to pull the glass out and re-seal it all...

I will get a quote today (hopefully) and post back with what it approx. costs so others can know. Thanks a ton!!

seals are 22$ each (x3) for the rear wing. So, get ready to fork out the backs down at the dealership. I went down there to price up hatch seals when I did the hatch bump stops and decided to leave it how it is for now.

I used 3m tape and cut it to fit around the holes where the wing mounted and it worked for me.

I agree not to use silicone, I used it once and don't plan on ever using it again.

I too doubt that its the wing, judging by my fasteners that are rusty (same issue), I'm going to agree with Keith.
