Leak behind compressor plate

I have boss 550 turbo. When I check for boost leak I found leak behnd compressor plate. Is this normal? I can't tighen it anymore.

I am using the home depot pvc pipe with air chuck. The pressure is 25 psi. The design is like your picture. Maybe I need to take it apart and look at the seal again. Thanks Dave. Yes I will be going to Indy meet.

Many turbos don't have a seal there, it's just metal on metal. My new HTA GT turbo doesn't, and neither did my upgraded CT26. The CT leaked a lot of air so I put a thin bead of silicone on it.

It seems stupid that there is no seal there, it makes it much harder to test for boost leaks when the compressor is hissing at you.
