Hi there

Here is the case, I just bougt a Supra Turbo Cheap because it was smoking oil.
Toke the turbo out, a brand new upgraded ball bearing ct-26, the turbo has also
been rebuild, because the previous owner belived that it smoked from at leaky
gasket in the turbo. There is a picture of the turbo after been seperated fra the
center housing. To me it looks like the turbo is the one that is leaking oil. Build in
a restrictor on the banjo bolt, to reduce oilflow to the turbo, because its a
ball bearing, and the dont like high pressure (oilpump has also been shimmed).
I dosnt smoke as much any more as before, but still smokes after i has been
sitting for a while and then reved. The engine has 5000 km on it, and has always
been smoking, but after i did that it wasnt as bad anymore.

Now to the concerning issue. It knocks like shit. I have put the ignition at 0 degress,
and some times it still knocks very loud. I think that the rebuild has gone a little
to fast, and that a vavle gasket has poped up? Oil is leaking down to the cylinder
and causing knocking, or compression is of the scale because of the 1,2mm bead
gasket and to much has been taken of the block and head.

How can i check if the oil is coming into the engine?

Anything else that could cause pre ignition?

I will put me compression tester on today, but to me, it sounds unlikely that, that would
cause so much knocking.

Things done:
Plugs is brand new 1 degree colder than stock.
Brand new ignition wires
Ignition timing check with gun
98 octane (European) fuel.

Sorry for my bad english.

What do you guys think, Turbo or engine? or both

Hi there. It is ignition knocking, i am sure. Just swapped over the engine wires and ecu by the way. (Auto conversion) And the problem is still there, so wires and ECU is out of the question. And when the timing light hits 10 degress, it means that the engine shoots at 10 degress. But what i dont know is, if the system advances the ignition to much, but to me its unlikely, it knocks immedialy when you touch the throttle.

I come from a land down under
Verify that the Timing mark on the Damper is in the correct position.

Remove #1 plug take a 250mm long piece of rubber vacc hose place it on top of the piston and turn the motor by hand watching the Hose when it stops and begins to decend look at the timing mark.

As the 7M damper gets old the Bonded rubber ring fails allowing the outer ring to slip on the inner hub and this will give an incorrect TDC mark and everything you do from there is also incorrect.

Jep its a ignition knock, it starts strait on just a little trottle, and it goes away af 2 sec.

CPS alignment is the same as the ignition point, so if the gun shots cylinder 1 at 10 degress, then the alignment must be okay ;-)
