Knock Sensor code after all this time....

I've had my car 3 years (turbo, 89 bought it ruined) and my final code left is knock sensor.

Had it since the start.

One KS was missing. Just installed a replacement (got from someone on here btw) and the code comes back after maybe 60 seconds of running.

The car sounds good and is fairly responsive. I haven't pushed it very hard but it can put a smile on my face at 3kRPM

Plus the car is definitely NOT knocking. It would have destroyed itself by now surely?

Questions:

If both sensors turn out to be OK is my only option rewiring?
I have a computer from an AT, I have swapped my car to an R154. Could this be a problem?
Haven't tightened the replacement sensor in either (will do so today), could this affect the sensor's operation?
Since changing tranny I have no cruise control or reverse lights, is there an easy fix for this (low down on priority list)?

Basically, any suggestions and sorry I know there are many KS threads but nobody with my exact situation.

Also, replacing the AC amplifier is expensive.

There are many threads concerning the knock sensor (code 52)...the way to fix it does cover your "exact situation". These threads also say a code 52 will retard timing. Quit being lazy and fix it instead of looking for a easy solution.

I can't possibly see how you could think a tranny swap or auto ECU would affect the knock sensors.

What does an AC amplifier have to do with the time of day in China?

I'm trying to fix it. Was wondering if there are any tips anyone had before I proceeded. Thought I should explain my situation in case any of the factors could affect anything (true it wouldnt make sense but Supras don't always make sense).

Also, I'm not lazy at all. With respect you don't know how far this car and I have come. Its taken 3 years of blood, sweat and tears to get this far. When I bought this thing it wouldn't even start, and the exterior was ruined. And when it did it couldn't handle a load more than 2k RPM. I come in here asking for a little advice and I get accused of being lazy. Thanks.

P.S. the AC amplifier was mentioned just because I just had to order it. Not cheap.

The point is the solution to a code 52 has been covered extensively. What do you expect someone to think reading this? Some sort of magic solution to a problem (your "exact situation") that involves two possible issues: The knock sensor(s) or the wiring to the ECU.

Then you post something that is totally irrelevant to the thread topic and anyone that reads it is expected to "understand". Posting random thoughts do not help you.

I'm just pointing out how it appears to someone reading what you posted...if you want help, it's the person reading what you write that matters not what you are thinking.

That said, it's more likely the KS wiring. If you don't want to source the parts/wire yourself, Shaeff makes a re-wire kit...PM him.

I just had this problem with my JDM GTE swap, found one of the two knock sensor wires were shorted to ground. I fixed it by buying a 5 foot coax cable TV cable and restringing the circuit. I had some doubts about using it, but it works perfectly with no problems, only cost $14 too. Your best friend with electrical problems is a DVOM!

Remove glovebox and measure through the two transparent insulation wires to the knock sensors plugs.
Meaure them to ground too.
If the wiring is broken replace the wiring.

Find someone with a scope, remove both knock sensors and test them for a signal when tapping them.

Chance is you bought a broken second hand or the one left in your engine was broken too.
