It used to be an NA that the guy swapped the complete drive train (engine, trans, diff, electrical) from a turbo car that had been totaled. He said it will turn over but not start. Sounds easy. I plan to get it up and running, shampooed and shined then sell it to pay for a new paint job on my '87 that has all the
"fun stuff".DSCF4242.jpg

Man, you just made my mouth start dripping, $600 for that.
where i live a mk3 without an engine costs $3000 and it doesn't have to be clean like the one you have.

Burgundy with Ox blood interior FTW! Nice find for $600 especially when the cost of scrap metal has gone up somewhat. I think a month ago here it was like $14.50 per 100lbs of scrap metal.

Indeed. I just sent a totally stripped Targa shell to the scrapper and was cut a check for $80. That was for 800lbs of steel. Not bad. Good find. I just bought my '87 Hardtop w/o engine and transmission for $600, so you win.

Nice find for sure, sounds pretty similar to my situation. I picked up an 87 turbo auto for $700 that needed a headgasket, same color and everything, hardtop too haha. Luckily most people don't seem to know what these are or have any desire for them so cheaper ones seem to be popping up more often than not lately.
