Is it possible to use the automatic shifter from a MK4 in a MK3? The one in the MK3 looks so dated and I was just wondering if a swap is possible.

if they're both cable driven (and I think they are) it shouldn't be an issue to use it as long as you can get it to fit...

the handle looks to be attached the same way on most toyotas, so you might be able to just remove the handle and bolt it on...

Alma: Don't stress some people can't help but be "search nazis", in the time they take to post up "search ya noob" they could have either a) STFU or b) take the time to post a link and be a helpful member.

I don't really care which they choose either makes the forum a friendlier place to be and makes my job here easier.

if you get a chance, can you take pics of the shifter knob removed and how it attaches?

I'll have to look around, but I know there are a few companies that make aftermarket auto shift knobs, not to mention something from like a 90's model camry might even work...

I think a cooler swap would be for a newer style toyota shifter like the one in my 06 tacoma. There is no button on it. You just hit the brakes and move it through the gates. You can also replace the knobs one it with any manual knob you like. I'm gonna have to take apart the two and compare/see what's possible. I think the taco shifter maybe full electronic though.
