is it just me or was this car originall 5speed?

I was looking in the engine bay today and noticed that on the firewall there was a hose coming out next to the brake booster. Im assuming this is where the clutch master cylinder would be. So I looked a little more and on the other side of the firewall where the hose would come through under the steering wheel and sure enough where the clutch pedal would go there was a hose coming thru on that side. Both hose sides looked like they had been cut and it was a really crappy job. So im assuming this car was originally a manual 5 speed. What I would like to know is could this be a possibility or is this standard on all automatics for an option to convert?

The firewall is universal for auto and manual. The hole is there for the master cylinder either way. Sure does make it easy to convert from auto to manual though.

yes but if u look at the picture....the hole has a hose coming thru it on both sides...and the part where it comes thru to the pedal is tampered with

I've seen people use that hole for a boost gauge. Might be that? The clutch master cylinder doesn't have any hoses going through there. Just the rod.

ok...well this is a hose thats cut so i dont know what it could be

clutch has a master cylinder like the brakes do without a booster, there wouldnt be a hose or tube there from that, does the cluster have the overdrive off indicator light?

check the vin im sure theres a letter for it.

Check the data tag, it will tell you what transmission the vehicle came with.

That hose has nothing to do with anything transmission related, nor is it an OEM Toyota part, methinks.
