Intermittent starting

Hope you guys can shed some light on this…

1st problem is that some times it just does not start. It seems to happen randomly with no warning. So as you turn the key … nothing, no solenoid noises or anything. I have an idea that there should be a sensor in the auto shifter that only allows it to start when it’s in park???

2nd problem is the cigarette lighter stopped working on Sunday when I was using the small hoover. The fuses are fine(the first thing I checked) so I stripped the dash and tested the plug with my multi meter and there was no voltage on the plug. Has this happened to any one else?

Thanks

Try jiggling the auto shifter to see if that will allow it to start. Other then that, it could be a relay failure (very uncommon) or a wiring fault (also uncommon).

Double check the fuse, replace it even if it looks good just to see if that helps.
