Im currently debating whether or not I want to go with a 4 inch Thick or 5 inch Thick intercooler for my MKIV. I plan to put down about 900whp for the street on a t4 setup. Is 5 inch worth the added weight and price? Thanks.

On my 2jz I have the 4" ebay special. I think it is 32" x 4" x 12". Last summer at the track it was 90 degrees. Even after 5 1/4 passes, my intercooler was cool to touch. I would attribute a lot of the coolness to the E85. I was around 500 rwhp at the time. I have heard of guys taking off their intercooler with e85. I personally think 5" is over doing it. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldnt consider 900hp a street car. You arent going to get any where near 900hp on pump gas and running race fuel and high boost takes it out of the "street" class. The weight difference between a 4" and larger intercooler is "white noise" on a 3400lb MKIV. I would get a 4" Greddy or ETS intercooler. That should support your goals.

900whp and street car dont really belong in the same sentence imo... but why not I suppose...

the added weight of a 1" difference is null...

+1 I agree sir. There is not need for anything bigger than a 4" FMIC. GL and post up some pics and video, in the appropriate section.
