Ok so I wanted to know if its possiable to paint intercoolers? Because I wanted to paint the intercooler silver instead of black. Here is a pic of a 91 stock intercooler in my 86.5 with the front bumper back on the car and I have a problem I like the way you can see the intercooler but the gaps on the sides kill the look.Any info will help on how to close the gaps. I circled the gaps in yellow on the last pic.

to kill the gaps... get a bigger intercooler. This will also fix your black/silver issue as they typically come in silver.

I would not paint the IC though. The stocker likely has a special thermal disperssant coating on it to help improve cooling.

Oh yeah... a new IC would also increase your cooling so you would get 2 visual changes and a performance increase. Sounds like a win-win to me.

If you're not planning on getting a new intercooler anytime soon, get a mesh grill. It's got the bling for you, plus it's functional, it will help protect your intercooler (and your aftermarket one if you go that way) from flying rocks, birds, and debris. A mesh grill will protect you intercooler way better than a stocker. Notice the bent fins on the stock one in the picture? Yep, time for a mesh grill ;).
