Hi all,
I've just finished an engine rebuild and swap on my supra. (bought a new supra and put another engine in it, rebuilding while i had the chance.)
anyway, having put about 500 gentle miles on it to run it in it let me down on my way to work with what i thought was either fuel starvation or an ignition problem.
The car would tick over fine, but as soon as i tried to pull away it just died. once the car had cooled a few hours later it ran fine for a while (6 miles or so) and then the same thing again.
with the car towed home (ticking over all the way) i checked for codes and got code no: 14, armed with this info i changed the coil packs and leads for a known good set, when i tried the car i only got 1 mile before it died. the next morning i changed the ECU for another and the car ran fine for 200 miles or so before having the same problem again, it was towed home and left for the night.
the next day it ran fine for a couple of hours but as i hadn't done anything to fix it, i changed the igniter for a known good one, however a couple of hours later the problem arose again (although not as bad) and i'm at a bit of a loss really. the plugs have only done 1000 miles and if a plug went down then it would run on 5 and still drive (badly)
My thoughts are to change the cam postion sensor and maybe AFM just to rule them out as i've got spares (a whole other car)
any idea's or suggestions would be great as i'm supposed to be going away in it at the weekend, thanks in advance,
John.
