There are very minor differences between the turbo auto trans and the non turbo one. The computer is one, the turbo has different parameters built into the box for shift points. Just make sure you buy a Pre-89 (yellow plug) automatic GTE harness. The manual harness/ ECU will not work with the auto box.

Long answer: Yes, but you probably don't want to as the GTE transmission was beefed up a bit to handle the added power. Why would you want to keep your old transmission?

^my thoughts exactly. If youre going through the trouble of a turbo swap, might as well swap in an r154 while youre doing it.

You need dollars to install a 7M-GTE, too. Or time, tools and expertise, which your original question leads me to believe that you don't have. Even then, it's not as cheap as you might think.
