hello i just finished rebuilding my 1jz i got it to start up but it idles at 2k and breaks up at 3k it has a cel code but i cant check it because the cel doesnt come on when i turn the key to the on position but once its running itll throw a code, need some help on what it could possibly be

Well if your CEL light isn't working, something is messed up with your wiring unless It's as simple as the bulb is burned out.. no? So, I'd start by checking whatever wiring was modified/extended.. You shouldn't try to diagnose a different problem when you have other problems unsolved..

the bulb isnt burned out, it comes on when the motor is running. i jumped te1 and e1 with the motor running and off, still nothing. nothing on the harness is cut or extended, i was also thinking it might be the ecu because in the past it was the only thing that was ever a problem. if it were to be wiring where specifically should i check for diagnostics?
