idle speed problem

When cold the idle speed is 700 rpm approx and as it warms up the idle increases to 12-1300 prm, I have Adjusted the tps and set the timing,( also does this in set-up mode)
Also when hot the revs surge from 800-1200prm some times too, a right pain in a auto!!

blipping the throttle allows the engine to return to normal idle for a few seconds before it returns to 1200 rpm

The car is a 89 7m-gte Auto.

Check the coolant sensor and be sure no codes are set.

Yep will be checking coolant sensor wiring tomorrow, as from memory it only started after changing the thermo housing, so i could have damaged the set up.
