This may sound dumb or easy to you, but what entails upgrading a hard drive? I can do the actual hands on part, but the whole software deal has me lost. Also, the comp has a second "port/ied?" for a hard drive, so how would i go from one to two? Thanks, Shelby

You can add a 2nd hard drive. (Its IDE) and have 2. If you replace your hard drive then you have to either re-install windows and all software, or you can copy the data from the old to the new then put the new one in.

Either way it sounds like if you want to do this you need to add the 2nd drive and leave the 1st one alone. If you just want a bigger drive to store files, I would just get an external USB drive. This way you don’t have to take the computer apart.

If they are both IDE and you have a Four plug IDE cable... (1 for mobo, 1 for each hd, and one for cd drive) then its as simple as plugging it in. Put the jumper on the hard drive you have in right now on master, and the new one on slave. Computer should boot off of the old one but you can access the new one. If you just want to upgrade your harddrive (take out one you have now and put in a new one) and that new one already has windows on it... just unplug the first one and plug in the new one, jumpers should all be right.
