How to remove oil pump

I am in the process of tearing down my aristo 2jz for the refresh, New oil pump, water pump, and gaskets. I am done tearing it down but I can not remove the oil pump. It is loose and comes out about a half inch and then stops. Do I have to remove the oil pan in order to remove the oil pump?

Do you have the new pump? Look at the bottom.

Nope, I'm just cleaning the engine up. So that when all my parts get here I can slap them on.

You need to pull off the pan.

Cool thanks, I'll have it on a engine stand soon. Right now its still on a pallet.
